NARA launches a fund of funds for startups in collaboration with PlugandPlay

Nara Capital and PlugandPlay have launched Nara Ventures, a €100 million fund to invest in top-quartile venture capital funds and emerging managers who have demonstrated a strong track record at large investment firms or have been founders of unicorns.

This fund is a milestone for Nara Capital, born in 2022 post-pandemic, to consolidate its position in the technology sector with a partner such as PlugandPlay

The fund may additionally invest in startups directly, co-investing with Nara Ventures funds, with PlugandPlay itself and in various opportunities that come out in the secondary market.

One in a million: that is a startup chance of becoming a unicorn. Diversification and access to the best managers is often critical to achieve a successful investment as a venture capital

"PlugandPlay is part of a specific group of 15 Venture Capital investors that have more than 30 unicorns in their portfolio, at a rate of 2 unicorns per year.”, said Josep Magdalena, CEO and founding partner of Nara Capital.

“We are very proud of our partnership with PlugandPlay, whose vision and experience in the Venture Capital sector is a key factor. Thanks to this partnership we can have access to top quartile funds, with Internal Rates of Return between 20% and 35%. These are funds that have invested in companies like TikTok, Instagram, Wise, Uber, Revolut, Airbnb or Spotify when nobody knew them.", said Josep Magdalena.

"We invest with a global reach, taking advantage of the capillarity provided by our partner's presence in more than 50 cities and privileged access to funds in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, China and India."

"The fund will end up investing, indirectly, in more than 1000 companies diversifying across more than 30 managers, more than 10 countries and a multitude of technologies and markets. Undoubtedly, there is an unstoppable current in the field of Generative Artificial Intelligence, which is being applied transversally to many sectors - mobility, robotics, entertainment, life sciences - increasing their efficiency and productivity and transforming their value chain. In fact we have only seen the tip of the iceberg. Among the underlying fund investments already committed by Nara Ventures are companies such as OpenAI.", Josep Magdalena pointed out.

To promote this project, Nara Capital not only has Spanish capital but also international institutional investors. In fact, the firm has recently signed a strategic alliance with a renowned investor from UAE, to multiply the impact that the firm has in disruptive sectors.

As a part of the strategic plan for the next five years, Nara Capital plans to accelerate its expansion to consolidate its position as a multi-asset firm in key sectors. In particular, aiming on the area of sustainability, where the firm is launching a new investment strategy
